Pippin pops into town

The Gainesville High School theater department is producing the musical “Pippin” at the school next week. Cast members are: Louisa Gille, Sammy Nelson, Julia Truelove, Boone Alexander, Alexander Amos, Rentavious Buffington, Trevor Calvert, Carlee Cosper, Kyle Deaton, Sophie Goode, Savannah Hecht, Alaina Holeman, Jonathan Merritt, Andre Ribeiro, Izzy Pate, Cameron Peacock, Nathalie Pedraza, Bryanna Saddler, Sam Terray, Meg Thornton, Triston Wimpye, Ali Auffarth, Kimberly Smith, Sophia Casey, Bleu Bell, Brianna Carrera, Joel Contreras, Jazmine Ellison, Emilie Gille, Logan Harr, Parker Hendrix, Gus Kauffman, Cindy Maldonado, Sarah Beth Moss, Nicolle Pierce, Narda Rivera, Ramiro Salinas, Max Stone, T. J. Gibson and Triston Cantrell.
A performance troupe will descend on the Gainesville High School stage to recount the tale of a young prince named “Pippin.” Based on a book by Roger O. Hirson, “Pippin” is the story of a young man searching for meaning and significance. He explores all avenues to an extraordinary existence only to find the most modest of choices makes him happy.

Local celebrities face off in dance contest to raise money for 3 charities

Some call it the “best fundraiser in town.” The fourth annual Dancing for a Cause will bring dinner, dancing and competition to the Chattahoochee Country Club on Aug. 26 as 10 local “celebrities” vie for the coveted Mirror Ball . The event, which begins with dinner at 7 p.m. and the show following at 8 p.m., is a fundraiser for three local charities: Gainesville-Hall County Alliance for Literacy, Center Point and Rape Response Inc.
