Mrs. Marie and Mr. Donald Franklin of Gainesville announce the engagement of their daughter, Miss Alana Marie Franklin, to Lt. j.g. Roscoe Koehler Thomas, son of Mrs. Karyn and Mr. William Thomas of Scarborough, Maine.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Judge and Mrs. William Russell Killian and the late Mr. and Mrs. Lawton Franklin.
She is a 2009 graduate of North Hall High School in Gainesville. She graduated in 2014 from the University of Georgia with a degree in communication studies and will graduate from the School for International Training Graduate Institute with a master’s degree in international education in May. She is employed as a study abroad advisor at the University of San Diego in San Diego, Calif.
The groom-elect is the grandson of Mrs. William Roscoe Thomas of Santa Rosa, Calif., the late Mr. Roscoe Thomas and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Hinkelman of Pottsville, Pa.
He is a 2010 graduate of Scarborough High School in Scarborough, Maine. He graduated in 2014 from the U.S. Naval Academy with a degree in aerospace engineering. He is employed as a naval aviator with the U.S. Navy in San Diego, Calif.
The couple plan to wed Sept. 16, 2017, at the U.S. Naval Academy Chapel in Annapolis, Md.
