Mr. and Mrs. David C. Mathis of North Augusta, S.C., announce the engagement of their daughter Miss Brittany Leighann Mathis to Mr. Matthew Shay Dale, son of Mr. and Mrs. Terrence A. Dale of Gillsville.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert T. Reel of Edgefield, S.C, Ms. Rachel Rozar of Dudley and the late Mr. William A. Mathis Sr.

She is a 2004 graduate of North Augusta High School in North Augusta. She graduated in 2008 from the University of South Carolina Aiken in Aiken, S.C., with a bachelor's degree in exercise and sports science. She is employed with Health Quest in Evans.

The groom-elect is the grandson of the Rev. and Mrs. Samuel Dale of Gillsville, Mr. William Lance of Jefferson and the late Mrs. Gail Chambers Lance.

He is a 2004 graduate of Banks County High School in Homer. He attended Augusta State University in Augusta. He is employed as a Realtor with Meybohm Realtors in Evans.

The couple plan to wed May 9, 2009, at First Baptist Church, Edgefield, S.C.
