Downtown Lula is getting another makeover, thanks in large part to an Atlanta native who has become endeared by the northeast Hall County city’s past. Mark Lusink, who renovated a 19th-century, two-story building on Main Street last year, is fixing up an aging structure farther north up Main: the single-story brick Poole building, which sits next to Veterans Park off Athens Street. He is working to convert most of the building — a former car repair shop/garage dating possibly to the 1920s or 30s — into retail or business/office space, possibly a restaurant.
