Georgia Mountains Workforce Development will hold information sessions today for those out of work and eligible for assistance.

Representatives of the organization, a division of the Georgia Mountains Regional Commission, will hold informational meetings at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. today at the Central Park Recreation Center, 2300 Keith Bridge Road, Cumming.

John Phillips, director of the organization, said the meetings are meant to help educate the public on assistance they can receive.

Through the Workforce Investment Act of 1998, the organization can provide funding for continuing education, he said.

Phillips said informational meetings have been held in Hall County for several years, but are now being offered in all 13 Northeast Georgia counties the agency serves.

Anyone interested in attending one of the meetings is asked to contact the office in advance at 770-538-2727, though Phillips said notice is not required. Those attending should bring their driver's license.
