White County's Graves joins North Ga. Network board

The North Georgia Network has named White County businessman Forrest Graves to its Community Advisory Board.

The board provides public oversight to NGN and provides feedback from the communities to the overall board of directors. As an advisory board member, Graves will offer insight from a business standpoint.

The North Georgia Network is building a high-speed fiber-optic network that will benefit Dawson, Forsyth, Habersham, Lumpkin, Rabun, Towns, Union and White counties with high-speed Internet access.

Daniel and Tymchuk join Leadership Georgia class

Two local business leaders have been chosen to the Leadership Georgia Class of 2012: Carroll B. Daniel and Melissa Tymchuk.

Daniel is president of Carroll Daniel Construction Co. in Gainesville. Tymchuk is public relations manager of Northeast Georgia Health System in Gainesville.

The 40-year-old organization affiliated with the Georgia Chamber of Commerce comprises a network of emerging young leaders across the state. Sixty members are chosen each year from a pool of several hundred applicants.

Carter succeeded as state chamber chairman

Gainesville Realtor Doug Carter will continue on the Georgia Chamber of Commerce's executive board after serving the past year as the chamber's chairman.

The chamber recently chose Edward J Heys Jr. as the chairman for 2012, in addition to recognizing its new officers.

Among those was Michael D. Williams of Lake Lanier Islands Resort in Buford, who will serve as chairman of the chamber's Tourism & Entertainment Committee.
