Beckstein gets a standing ovation from those attending his 90th birthday party.
A group of children gathered around a table, cutting paper and scribbling birthday wishes on colorful cards. At the end of the table there was a stack of finished cards, many of them simply saying “I love you Mr. B.” Gene Beckstein, founder of Good News at Noon, celebrated his 90th birthday Monday night at First Baptist Church on Green Street. Hundreds of people whose lives have been touched by Beckstein, or Mr. B as he’s affectionately called at the shelter, gathered to support the ministry and celebrate Beckstein’s lifetime of service.
