Gainesville City Council is set to approve the use of $12,500 in SPLOST VI money today to pay for a study at Lee Gilmer Memorial Airport. The study will determine if larger aircraft can be allowed to land on airport runways by testing pavement strength. Airport Manager Terry Palmer said he hopes to increase the maximum weight load of aircraft beyond 50,000 pounds, calling the limit "artificially low."
