Three people were seriously injured, with one being flown to Atlanta Medical Center, in a two-vehicle wreck this afternoon on Dawsonville Highway.
Six total were transferred from the scene, according to Hall County Fire Services.
Two people had to be extricated from the vehicles at the crash site at Dawsonville Highway and Lynncliff Drive, according to the fire department, which responded to the scene.
Georgia State Patrol Cpl. A.J. Allen said a 2006 Ford Freestar driven by Mitchell Brookshire, 59, of Gainesville was traveling westbound on Dawsonville Highway in the left turn lane approaching the Lynncliff Drive intersection.
Maria Rosales, 19, of Cumming, drove eastbound on Dawsonville Highway in the right lane approaching the same intersection in a 2010 Dodge Charger.
“(Brookshire’s vehicle) attempted to turn left onto Lynncliff Drive but failed to yield to (Rosales’ vehicle),” Allen wrote in an email. “(The front of Rosales’ vehicle) struck (Brookshire’s vehicle) in the right side.”
The Ford Freestar traveled off the north side of Lynncliff Drive and stopped in a grassy area, Allen said. The Dodge Charger rotated until it stopped in the intersection.
Brookshire was charged with failure to yield while turning left and driving under the influence, state patrol said.
Brookshire had one passenger, Teresa Rundles, 50, of Gainesville. Rosales had three passengers: Brenda, 5, and Evelyn Domingo, 16, and Veronica Gasca, 17, all of Cumming.
All of the occupants except for Evelyn Domingo were taken by ambulance to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville. Evelyn Domingo was flown to Atlanta Medical Center.
Allen said all were in a stable condition as of 8 p.m. Thursday.
