Change aimed at saving money

The City of Gainesville will begin mailing only one tax bill starting in the fall, with the more than 12,000 tax bills set to go out in late September. Tax Coordinator Dee Dee Stephens said sending the one bill, rather than sending out an updated bill for those paying in installments, will save the city money. The taxes will be due on or before Dec. 1, depending on the billing process.
