College scoreboard: North Georgia defeats Lincoln Memorial in NCAA Division II Southeast RegionalDylan Peppers’ complete game pitching performance with eight strikeouts led the University of North Georgia baseball team to a 4-1 win against Lincoln Memorial on Thursday in the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional tournament in Mount Olive, North Carolina. Conner Corbitt and Bill Leroy each had a homer for the Nighthawks.Corbitt hit a home run in the bottom of the fourth inning to put North Georgia back on top, 2-1. College softball: Brenau's season ends with 1-0 loss in NAIA National ChampionshipsThe Brenau University softball program surrendered a two-out double by the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma for the game’s only run in a 1-0 loss in the NAIA National Championships on Tuesday in Alexandria, Louisiana. Record-breaking freshman pitcher Eli Daniel finished the game, racking up 12 strikeouts and allowed only two hits. Softball: Brenau freshman pitcher Daniel breaks national strikeout recordBrenau University’s Kathleen “Eli” Daniel set a national single-season record with 552 strikeouts as the Golden Tigers softball team defeated Edward Waters College 5-0 in the first round of the NAIA softball World Series on Monday in Alexandria, Louisiana. The freshman struck out 13 of the 15 batters she faced, bypassing the previous high mark of 540 strikeouts set by Oklahoma City University’s Lily LaVelle in 2012. “Eli is a tremendous young woman, an excellent member of the college community and a great representative of Brenau University — not to mention that she is a once in a lifetime athlete,” Brenau President Ed Schrader said in a university news release.May 16, 2017
