University of North Georgia baseball team advance to the NCAA Division II Championship tournament thanks to Andres Perez’s go-ahead, solo home run in the eighth inning and 5-4 victory against Catawba on Monday in Mount Olive, N.C. Perez provided two RBIs for sixth-ranked North Georgia, while teammates Michael Gouge and Bill Leroy each drove in a run. Dylan Peppers pitched six scoreless innings for the Nighthawks (46-10), allowing four hits and a walk. It is the first time in school history that North Georgia baseball’s program has made it to the championship tournament.
