Buford High senior pitcher Sam Clay led an eight-member class of signees to national letters of intent for the Georgia Tech baseball team on Monday.
"Sam Clay is the best left-handed pitching prospect in the state and is the quarterback for perennial football power Buford High," Yellow Jackets coach Danny Hall said.
Clay, a left-handed pitcher, helped the Wolves to the Class AA state championship last season.
He is also the starting quarterback (57 of 88 passing, 786 yards, 10 TD) for the Wolves' football team, which will play in the second round of the Class AA state playoffs on Friday against Jefferson County.
Georgia Tech's signing class includes four pitchers, two infielders, one outfielder and a catcher.
The Yellow Jackets signed another southpaw pitcher in Jonathon King of Murfreesboro, Tenn.
Tech went out of state to find two right-handed hurlers Hayden Barnett of Houston, Texas and Jared Jillson of Vero Beach, Fla.
They strengthened the infield by signing Matt Gonzalez of Kennesaw, first baseman Cole Miller of Rome and catcher Grant Wruble of Alpharetta.
Georgia Tech also signed outfielder Dylan Dore of Johns Creek.
