Towns County’s Ansley Vardeman finished first overall with a time of 21:34.37 and the Lady Indians finished with four of the top six runners Saturday to win the Class A public school girls cross country state championship in Macon. Caitlin Sheffield (22:40.54) finished third, Sierra Nichols (22:47.21) came in fourth and Taylor Vardeman (23:17.65) finished sixth. In the Class A private schools boys 5-kilometer race, Lakeview Academy finished eighth out of 16 teams.
